A Sweet Neutral Nursery

One of my favorite rooms to decorate is the nursery. Our first nursery was in our house in Charleston, SC and we just had the best time putting together all of the things for Avery’s nursery. We were able to set up a second nursery for her when we moved to Wildwood, MO and into our first house here. For this room, we focused on making it easy to transition into a toddler or “big girl” room. Her room wasn’t themed but we stuck with the colors of brown, pink, and gray. It was adorable but my style has definitely changed in the last 6 years!

The second nursery we decorated was for William. Thomas’s grandfather, William “Bill”, was a pilot for the Army in WWII and I had seen a picture of a plane that he flew a few years prior. Here was the perfect inspiration for a baby boy room who shared the same name as his great-grandfather. I’ll circle back and do a post of his nursery.

Now, in a new house, I was changing my style again! My goal is to be light and bright and I wanted a simple but feminine feel for Mary Haye’s nursery. I looked through Pinterest for very light, almost neutral pink wall colors and settled on trying two pinks. Opal and Pink Damask by Benjamin Moore. We ultimately chose Pink Damask and I couldn’t be happier with our choice! See our post on paint colors here.

Since we ended up converting our old crib to William’s bed we needed a new crib. I was able to find the Kendall Pottery Barn crib that was white and fell in love with it! This was the first piece of furniture that we bought for the room. It has such a classic, timeless feel that set the tone for the rest of the room.

After choosing a crib, we needed a dresser. We wanted a double dresser that could be used as a changing table and settled on the Hemnes double dresser from Ikea. Since it was a simple dresser, I decided to dress it up a bit by replacing the knobs. Gold accents went perfect with the pink and white color scheme I was working with. The bows brought in that subtle feminine touch.

I hope you enjoyed sweet Mary Hayes’ room. We loved putting it together!
